Is the Cape Ridge Parka warm enough for below-freezing weather?

It pairs down and feather fill with synthetic insulation, so it suits cold winter days. For long stretches below freezing or heavy wind, most people layer a fleece underneath.

Is it actually waterproof?

Columbia lists it as waterproof with a hood, so it handles rain and wet snow. Seams and the fabric's coating matter most; re-proof the shell if water stops beading.

How does the fit run?

It has a straight fit, which leaves room for a sweater or hoodie. If you want a closer fit, consider sizing down.

What sizes are available?

Listings show M, L and XXL in black. Small and other colors are not consistently stocked, so check each store's size chart before ordering.

Can I machine wash it?

Down-and-synthetic blends need a gentle cycle with a down-specific detergent, then low-heat tumble drying with dryer balls. Avoid fabric softener, which clumps the fill.

Winter parkas usually drop after the holidays and again in late winter clearance. Track the price history to see whether $350 is near its low.
