Our take on the Continental Sleep 4" Cooling Gel Memory Foam Vinyl RV Mattress Replacement 72x36

This is a 4-inch medium-firm memory foam mattress replacement sized 72 by 36 inches for RV bunks and small berths. The vinyl cover wipes clean and resists moisture, which suits campers and boats better than fabric ticking. At $173.70 at Target as of November 4, 2026, it sits at the low end of its recent range, with only two stores listing it new.

Questions and answers

Is 4 inches thick enough for an RV mattress?
For bunk beds and occasional sleeping, yes. Side sleepers and heavier adults may want 6 inches or more for pressure relief.
Does the vinyl cover make it waterproof?
The vinyl cover resists moisture and wipes clean, which helps with spills and damp campers. It is not a sealed waterproof barrier, so use a mattress protector for heavy spills.
Will it fit my RV bunk?
It measures 72 by 36 inches, so check your bunk's exact opening first. RV bunks vary, and a 72x36 replacement will not fit every model.
Does the gel foam sleep cool?
Gel infusion helps a little, but a 4-inch foam mattress with a vinyl cover still traps heat. Expect it to sleep warmer than a spring mattress.
How is it shipped and set up?
It arrives compressed and rolls out with no assembly. Give it a day to fully expand before sleeping on it.
When is the best time to buy?
At $173.70 at Target as of November 4, 2026, it is near the low end of its recent range. Holiday sales are the usual time for deeper discounts.
