Our take on the Core Innovations 15.6" Laptop Intel Celeron

The Core Innovations 15.6" Laptop is a budget Windows notebook built around an Intel Celeron processor at 1.1 GHz, 512GB of SSD storage and a 15.6-inch 1366 x 768 display. It covers basics like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, a webcam and two USB ports, but the low-resolution screen, 0.3MP camera and 8 lb weight put it well behind mainstream laptops. It is a low-cost pick for light tasks, and shoppers should compare its price against entry-level Chromebooks and budget Windows machines before buying.

Questions and answers

Is the Core Innovations 15.6" laptop worth it?
Only for very light use like browsing, email and documents. If you need speed or a sharp screen, a used business laptop or a Chromebook at a similar price is a better buy.
Can it run Zoom or video calls?
It can run them, but the 0.3MP webcam gives low-quality video and the Celeron chip may stutter with video plus other apps open.
Is the 512GB storage an SSD?
Yes, it is listed as a 512GB solid-state drive, which is the strongest spec on this machine and helps it boot faster than an old hard drive.
Does it have a full-size HDMI port?
No. It has Mini HDMI, so you will need a Mini HDMI to HDMI cable or adapter to connect a TV or monitor.
How heavy is it?
It is listed at 8 lb, which is heavy for a 15.6-inch laptop and makes it better suited to a desk than a backpack.
When is the best time to buy it?
