Our take on the Costway Retro 0.7 Cu.ft Countertop Microwave Oven 700W, Green

The Costway Retro is a 700-watt countertop microwave with a 0.7 cu.ft cavity, five power levels and five preset programs, styled in a rounded retro cabinet with a manual dial look. It is small enough for a dorm desk, apartment counter or office kitchen, and the low wattage means slower heating than full-size units. The best new price is $109.99 at Target as of November 3, 2026, and only one store lists it new, so there is no cheaper new option to compare against.

Best forSmall kitchens and apartments with limited counter spaceBuyers who want a retro-styled appliance that showsDorm rooms and office break roomsReheating and light defrosting, not full meals
Pros
  • Compact 0.7 cu.ft footprint fits tight counters
  • Retro green finish stands out from plain black and stainless boxes
  • Five power levels and five preset programs cover basic reheating
  • Energy Star certified
  • Simple dial-style controls are easy to learn
Cons
  • 700 watts heats noticeably slower than 900-1000W microwaves
  • 0.7 cu.ft fits little more than a dinner plate or a mug
  • Only one store sells it new, so price competition is thin
  • Small cavity limits larger casseroles and full-size dinner plates

Questions and answers

Is the Costway Retro microwave worth it?
If you want a small, good-looking microwave for reheating and the $109.99 Target price as of November 3, 2026 fits your budget, it does the job. If speed matters, a 900-watt or higher unit will heat faster for similar money.
How fast does a 700-watt microwave heat food?
Expect roughly 1.5 to 2 times the time of a 1000-watt microwave for the same portion. A bowl of leftovers that takes 2 minutes in a full-size unit may take 3 to 4 minutes here.
What size plate fits in a 0.7 cu.ft microwave?
A standard 10-inch dinner plate fits with little room to spare, and the turntable limits you to roughly that diameter. Oversized platters and large casserole dishes will not fit.
Does it have a turntable and preset programs?
Yes, it has a glass turntable and five preset programs plus five power levels. Controls are dial-style rather than a full keypad.
Is the Costway Retro microwave Energy Star certified?
Yes, the listing states Energy Star certification. That matters most for standby power, not for how fast it heats.
When is the best time to buy it?
Only Target lists it new at $109.99 as of November 3, 2026, so there is no second new price to wait for. Watch for Target sitewide appliance sales and back-to-school promotions.
Where is the Costway Retro 0.7 Cu.ft Countertop Microwave Oven 700W, Green cheapest?
At Target, for $109.99, as of our latest check.
What do buyers say about the Costway Retro 0.7 Cu.ft Countertop Microwave Oven 700W, Green?
