Cowin VR Headset 3D Glasses Virtual Reality Headset

Our take on the Cowin VR Headset 3D Glasses Virtual Reality Headset

The Cowin VR Headset is a phone-based virtual reality viewer: you drop a smartphone into the front cradle and look through two lenses at a split-screen 3D image. It works with PC and mobile content and has built-in 3D positional audio. It is a basic viewer, not a standalone headset with its own screen or tracking. No current price was provided, so compare it against the $20–$40 range typical for phone-based viewers before buying.

Questions and answers

Is the Cowin VR Headset worth it?

Only as a cheap first taste of VR. It cannot match a Meta Quest or even a good phone viewer with proper lens adjustment, so set expectations low.

Does it work with an iPhone or Android phone?

It is designed for phones that fit the front cradle, so most recent iPhones and Android phones work. Check your phone's size against the cradle before buying.

Do I need a PC to use it?

No. Most people use it with a phone and a VR app. The PC compatibility applies to certain VR video and game content streamed or viewed on a connected device.

Does it have its own screen and battery?

No. The display is your phone's screen, and there is no battery. The LCD listing refers to the phone screen you insert.

Can I wear glasses with it?

Some users can, but space is tight in budget viewers. Smaller frames fit better; larger frames may press against the lenses.

When is it cheapest?

Budget phone viewers usually drop around Black Friday and back-to-school sales. Check the price history before buying at full price.

Where is the Cowin VR Headset 3D Glasses Virtual Reality Headset cheapest?

At Walmart, for $35.99, as of our latest check.
