Our take on the CRKT Folts S.P.E.W. Fixed Blade Knife

The CRKT Folts S.P.E.W. is a tiny fixed-blade knife designed by knifemaker Alan Folts. Its 3-inch Wharncliffe blade in high-carbon stainless steel and 1.8 oz weight make it a minimal everyday and neck-carry tool. The brown G10 handle and thermoplastic sheath with neck, pocket and mounting options round it out. At $27.99 at eBay as of November 4, 2026, it sits at the low end of its usual street price, which has run roughly in the high $20s to low $40s.

Questions and answers

Is the CRKT S.P.E.W. worth it?
For a light backup or neck knife at around $28, yes. It is sharp, well made and easy to carry. If you need one knife for heavy camp chores, a larger fixed blade suits better.
How does it compare to the Folts Minimalist?
Both are small Alan Folts designs from CRKT. The S.P.E.W. has a longer Wharncliffe blade and a G10 handle, while the Minimalist is shorter and comes in many blade and handle styles.
Can I carry it around my neck?
Yes. The included thermoplastic sheath has neck-carry cord options along with pocket and belt mounting. The knife weighs only 1.8 oz, so neck carry stays comfortable.
What is in the box?
You get the knife and its thermoplastic sheath. Check the listing for cord or clip details, since carry hardware can vary by seller.
When is it cheapest?
Small fixed blades like this see the deepest discounts around major sales and holiday periods. The $27.99 eBay price as of November 4, 2026 is already near the bottom of its range.
