Is the Crosman 2240 worth it?

Yes, if you want an accurate single-shot .22 CO2 pistol for plinking at a low price. At $78.87 at Amazon as of November 4, 2026, it costs less than most rifled-barrel CO2 pistols.

How many shots do I get per CO2 cartridge?

Expect roughly 30 to 40 usable shots from one 12-gram cartridge, fewer in cold weather. Velocity falls off as the cartridge empties.

Can I mount a scope or red dot?

Not without an adapter. The 2240 has a fixed front sight and no dovetail rail, so most owners add a steel breech with a rail or use the open sights.

How does it compare to the Crosman 1377?

The 1377 is a .177 pump pistol, so you pump it by hand and avoid CO2 costs. The 2240 is .22, CO2-powered and faster to shoot, but it needs cartridges.

The pistol itself. CO2 cartridges and pellets are sold separately, so budget for both.

Only one store lists it new, so there is little price competition. Watch for Amazon promotions around holidays rather than expecting regular discounts.
