Our take on the Culligan MaxClear 3 Gallon Gravity Water Filter System

The Culligan MaxClear is a 3-gallon countertop gravity water filter: you fill the top reservoir and water drips through a single-stage filter into a lower tank with a spigot. It needs no plumbing or power, which makes it useful for kitchens without a filter tap, apartments, RVs and emergency water storage. At $99.99 at eBay as of November 6, 2026, it sits at the low end of its recent range, with only two stores listing it new.

Cons

  • Filters are an ongoing cost and need regular replacement
  • Plastic reservoirs can scratch and hold odors if not cleaned

Questions and answers

Does it remove lead or PFAS?
No. It is a single-stage filter aimed at taste, odor and sediment. For lead, PFAS or similar dissolved contaminants, look for a certified multi-stage or reverse-osmosis system.
Does it need electricity or plumbing?
Neither. Water flows by gravity from the upper reservoir through the filter into the lower tank, so it keeps working during power outages.
How often do I replace the filter?
Replacement depends on how much water you use and your source water quality. Culligan rates the filter for a set number of gallons, so heavy households change it more often.
Is $99.99 a good price?
It is the lowest new price we have seen recently and sits at the bottom of its range, at eBay as of November 6, 2026. Only two stores list it new, so availability is limited.
How big is it?
It stands 12 inches high, so it fits under most upper cabinets. The lower tank holds 3 gallons of filtered water.
What's in the box?
The system includes the upper and lower reservoirs, a spigot and one filter. Check the listing to confirm a filter is included before buying.
Where is the Culligan MaxClear 3 Gallon Gravity Water Filter System cheapest?
At Culligan, for $175.00, as of our latest check.
What do buyers say about the Culligan MaxClear 3 Gallon Gravity Water Filter System?
