Our take on the Cumrige Open Top Self Cleaning Litter Box with App Control

The Cumrige is an open-top automatic litter box with a rake-style self-cleaning cycle, app control over 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, and an LED display. It is corded (70-inch cord, 24 W) and rated for cats up to 23 lb and up to three cats. The open design means no hood to trap odors and easier access for large cats, but also no odor containment. It has a 3.8 out of 5 average from 368 ratings, so reception is mixed rather than glowing.

Best forOwners of large or senior cats that dislike enclosed boxesHouseholds with up to three catsShoppers who want app alerts without paying premium-brand pricesPeople who prefer an open box for easy scooping and cleaning
Pros
  • Open top suits big cats and cats that refuse hooded boxes
  • App control and LED display show cycle status and faults
  • Rated for cats up to 23 lb and up to three cats
  • No assembly required out of the box
  • Rake self-cleaning cycle cuts daily scooping
Cons
  • Open top does nothing to contain odor

  • 3.8 out of 5 average suggests inconsistent reliability
  • No battery backup during power outages

Ratings average 3.8 out of 5 across 368 reviews, which points to a box that works well for many owners but frustrates a noticeable share. Complaints tend to center on the cleaning mechanism and app reliability rather than the basic design.

Cons
  • Rake jams or leaves clumps behind

Questions and answers

Is the Cumrige litter box worth it?
It is a reasonable pick if you want an open, app-connected automatic box for a large cat at a lower price than premium brands. Expect to check the rake and app connection regularly; the 3.8 out of 5 rating reflects that inconsistency.
How does it compare with a covered self-cleaning box?
The open top gives big cats room and is easier to inspect and clean, but it does not trap odor the way a hooded box does. If smell is your main concern, a covered model will do better.
Does it work with the app without Wi-Fi?
The app needs a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi connection; it does not support 5 GHz networks. Without Wi-Fi the box still runs its cleaning cycle from the panel, but you lose remote control and alerts.
What size cats can use it?
It is rated for cats up to 23 lb and for households with up to three cats. Very large or long cats may still find the open square footprint tight when turning.
What is in the box?
You get the assembled litter box, the power cord (70 inches) and setup instructions. Litter and a mat are not included, and no assembly is required.
When is the price lowest?
Automatic litter boxes tend to dip during major sales events and holiday promotions. Check the price history on this page before buying rather than assuming the current price is the floor.
