The D'Addario XSB45130SL is a 5-string electric bass set from D'Addario's XS line, which combines a nickel-plated steel wrap over a hex core with a thin polymer coating for longer string life. The set is long scale and light-to-regular gauge, aimed at players who want a coated string that still feels and sounds close to uncoated nickel. The best new price is $59.99 at Best Buy as of November 7, 2026, with three stores listing it new; coated 5-string sets typically run higher than plain nickel sets, so this sits in the upper part of the coated-string range.

Owners of D'Addario's XS coated bass strings generally report they last far longer than uncoated nickel sets while keeping a familiar nickel tone. The main complaints are the higher price and a slightly muted top end compared with fresh uncoated strings.
