Questions and answers

Is $38.99 a good price for these strings?
It is the best new price found as of November 7, 2026, at Musician's Friend. Six-string bass sets often cost more, so this is a fair price for a full set.
What gauge are the MR6-30 strings?
DR lists them as medium gauge. That is a middle-of-the-road feel, heavier than light sets and lighter than heavy ones.
Will these fit my six-string bass?
They are made for six-string electric bass, with a steel core and winding. Check your bass's scale length and bridge before buying, since long-scale and extra-long-scale basses need different winding lengths.
What do they sound like?
Steel-wound bass strings like these are generally bright and punchy when new. The tone settles and darkens as the strings break in.
How often should I change bass strings?
Many players change bass strings every few months, or sooner with heavy playing. Brightness fades first, so replace them when the tone goes dull.
Where is the DR String MR6-30 Electric Bass Strings cheapest?
At Musician's Friend, for $38.99, as of our latest check.
Where can I buy the DR String MR6-30 Electric Bass Strings?
