Let's take a look at the Dahle Vantage 18E, a personal 18-inch guillotine paper cutter. Lightweight, portable, and clever, the Vantage 18E is a great guillotine trimmer. You undo the lock one-handed by moving it down and out to the right. As you lift the blade, the automatic paper clamp moves into place to hold your work securely. When all lined up on the grid, make your cut. Clean up is simple and you lift the blade to release your paper. The Vantage 18E comes with a removable fence. This allows you to tighten down and make consistent cuts through many projects. The all-metal base is not only lightweight, it's also very long. At 18 inches, oversize documents are no problem. The Dahle Vantage 18E claims to cut up to 15 sheets of 20lb paper at a time. However, when we tried 15 sheets, we had a difficult time. So, we tried for 12, and that seemed to be the ticket and worked really well. When the blade and the fence are locked down, it's very lightweight and easily portable around the office.
