Our take on the Dark Frost (Paperback, 2012)

Dark Frost is the third book in Jennifer Estep's Mythos Academy young-adult fantasy series, published in paperback by Kensington in 2012. It follows Gwen Frost, a girl with psychometry magic, at a school for warriors descended from myth. Pros
  • Third Mythos Academy book, so a natural next read for series followers
  • Fast-paced YA fantasy with a magic-school setting
  • Paperback format keeps the price low
  • Part of a completed series, so no wait for the next book
Cons
  • Not a standalone; the story builds on books one and two
  • Young-adult tone and romance may not suit adult fantasy readers
  • 2012 release, so the series is older and less discussed now
