Our take on the Daybetter Socket Ceiling Fan with Light, 11 in. with Remote, Dimmable LED, White

The Daybetter Socket Ceiling Fan with Light is a small 11-inch fixture that screws into a standard light socket, so it needs no wiring or ceiling fan box. It combines a 2-blade AC fan with a dimmable LED globe and a remote, and its 100 CFM airflow suits small rooms up to about 215 sq ft. It is a low-cost fix for a dim, stuffy room rather than a replacement for a full ceiling fan.

Best forRenters who cannot install a wired ceiling fanSmall bedrooms, offices and bathroomsClosets, laundry rooms and utility spacesAnyone who wants a remote-controlled light and fan in one socket
Pros
  • Installs in a light socket with no wiring
  • Remote controls fan speed and light dimming
  • Dimmable LED globe included
  • Three fan speeds and reversible-looking white finish
  • Cheap way to add airflow to a small room
Cons
  • Only 100 CFM, weak for rooms near 215 sq ft
  • 2-blade design moves little air compared with a full fan
  • Dry-rated only, so not for damp bathrooms or porches
  • Bulb-socket mount limits placement and can wobble
  • AC motor and 3 speeds only, no smart features

Questions and answers

Is the Daybetter socket fan worth it?
For a small room with only a light socket, yes. It adds airflow and a dimmable light for little money. If you need real cooling in a large room, a standard ceiling fan moves far more air.
How much air does it move?
Daybetter rates it at 100 CFM maximum. That is enough for a small bedroom or office but weak for a room close to the 215 sq ft limit.
Can it go in a bathroom?
It is dry-rated only, so keep it out of damp bathrooms and covered porches. Use it in dry indoor rooms.
What is in the box?
The fan and LED light unit, a remote control and mounting hardware for a standard light socket. Batteries for the remote are usually not included.
Does it need special wiring?
No. It screws into an existing light socket like a bulb, so no fan-rated electrical box or new wiring is needed.
When is it cheapest?
Socket fans like this tend to dip during spring and summer cooling sales and around major shopping events. Check the price history before buying.
