Questions and answers
- Is the Precision 5690 good for CAD and 3D work?
- Yes. The RTX 2000 Ada is a professional GPU with ISV certifications for CAD and design software, paired with a Core Ultra 9 and 32 GB of RAM. It is not a gaming-first machine, but it handles engineering and content workloads well.
- Can I upgrade the RAM and storage?
- The 32 GB DDR5 and 1 TB SSD are factory configurations; check Dell's service manual for the specific slot layout before planning upgrades. Buying the memory and storage you need up front is the safer route.
- Does it have Windows Hello facial recognition?
- No. There is no IR camera for face unlock, so Windows Hello sign-in relies on a fingerprint reader or PIN. The 1080p webcam is for video calls only.
- What is the screen resolution and is it touch?
- The panel is 16 inches, 1920x1200, IPS and matte with a 16:10 aspect ratio. The listing does not specify touch, so assume a non-touch display unless a configuration says otherwise.
- Does it support mobile broadband?
- No. There is no SIM slot or mobile network support, so you rely on Wi-Fi or tethering. Bluetooth is included for peripherals.
- What ports does it have?
- It offers USB-C and USB 3.2 Gen 2 (10Gbps) ports plus a 1/8-inch headphone jack, with no optical drive. A USB-C dock or hub is useful if you need HDMI, Ethernet or card readers.
