Our take on the DeWalt 20V MAX 12 Inch Miter Saw with Battery and Stand Bundle DCS785BK

The DeWalt DCS785BK is a 12-inch sliding compound miter saw that runs on DeWalt's 20V MAX battery instead of a cord. It has a dual-bevel head that tilts both ways, and this bundle adds a folding miter saw stand and a battery. The cordless design suits trim work and job sites where power is not close by, but a 12-inch sliding saw is heavy and the 20V pack limits how long you can cut before swapping batteries.

Best forTrim carpenters working away from outletsJob sites and remodels without nearby powerBuyers who already own DeWalt 20V MAX batteriesCutting baseboard, crown and framing lumber on site

Pros

Runs on DeWalt 20V MAX batteries you may already own

Dual bevel lets you tilt left or right without flipping the work
Bundle includes a folding stand and a battery
Cordless freedom from extension cords and generators

Cons

Runtime is limited; large jobs need spare batteries
Less power than a corded 12-inch saw in hard wood
Battery and charger add cost if you are not already in the 20V system

Questions and answers

Is the DeWalt DCS785BK worth it over a corded miter saw?: It makes sense if you work where power is scarce or you already own 20V MAX batteries. A corded 12-inch saw costs less and cuts faster in dense wood, so pick corded for a shop that stays put.
How long does one battery last on this saw?: Expect a limited number of cuts per charge, and fewer in hard wood or wide stock. Bring at least one spare 20V MAX pack for a full day of trim work.
Does the bundle include a battery and charger?: The bundle is listed with a battery and a stand. Check the box contents for a charger, since kits vary and the saw alone does not include one.
Can it cut 4x4 or wide crown molding?: The 12-inch sliding head gives good capacity for wide trim and thick stock. Very tall crown or deep cuts may still need the work flipped or a bigger saw.
What stand comes with it?: It ships with a folding miter saw stand for transport and setup on site. Confirm the stand model if you need specific height or extension arms.
