Our take on the DeWalt 20V MAX Cordless Combo Kit with Reciprocating Saw and FLEXVOLT 6Ah Battery

A three-piece DeWalt 20V MAX cordless kit built around a reciprocating saw, with a FLEXVOLT 6Ah battery and a second battery included. The FLEXVOLT pack runs in any 20V MAX tool and delivers 6Ah of runtime, so the saw and the other two tools share one battery platform. It suits buyers already on DeWalt 20V who want a demolition-capable saw without buying a bare tool. The kit's value depends on the price against buying the saw and batteries separately.

Pros
  • FLEXVOLT 6Ah battery gives long runtime and fits all 20V MAX tools
  • Reciprocating saw handles demolition, pipe and pruning work
  • Two batteries means one can charge while the other runs
  • Shares the large DeWalt 20V MAX battery and charger ecosystem
  • Tool-free blade changes on the recip saw
Cons
  • Recip saw is the heavy, aggressive tool in the kit, not a fine-cutting saw
  • 6Ah FLEXVOLT pack adds weight to handheld tools
  • Kit price is high if you only need one of the three tools
  • Charger and case add bulk if you already own DeWalt gear

Questions and answers

Is the FLEXVOLT 6Ah battery compatible with other DeWalt 20V tools?
Yes. FLEXVOLT batteries run in any DeWalt 20V MAX tool and charger, and they also power 60V MAX tools. Expect more weight than a compact 2Ah pack.
What tools come in this 3-piece kit?
The kit is built around a 20V MAX reciprocating saw, with two more 20V MAX tools plus the FLEXVOLT 6Ah battery and a second battery. Check the tool list on the listing before buying, since DeWalt sells several 3-tool combinations.
Is the reciprocating saw good for cutting tree limbs?
Yes. A recip saw with a pruning blade handles limbs up to a few inches thick well. Use a coarse wood blade and let the saw do the work rather than forcing it.
How does this kit compare with buying the saw bare?
A bare recip saw costs less up front, but you need batteries and a charger. This kit makes sense if you have no 20V batteries or want a spare 6Ah pack; if you already own several, the bare tool is cheaper.
When is the best time to buy a DeWalt combo kit?
DeWalt kits see their deepest discounts around Black Friday, Father's Day and end-of-season tool events. Prices also dip when a new generation of the tools is announced.
