Is this kit worth it over buying the tools separately?

A six-tool kit usually costs less than the same tools bought one by one, and this one includes two batteries, a charger and a bag. If you only need two or three of the tools, buy those individually instead.

Are the 2.0Ah batteries enough for the circular saw?

They work, but expect short runtimes on the DCS570 and DCS367. DeWalt rates the saw for 330 crosscuts in 2x4 pine, and that figure assumes a larger pack. Plan on a 5.0Ah or bigger battery for saw-heavy days.

Does this kit include a hammer drill?

No. The drill is the DCD791 drill/driver, which has no hammer mode. For masonry you need a separate hammer drill such as the DCD996.

Do the batteries fit other DeWalt 20V MAX tools?

Yes. The 20V MAX batteries and charger work across the whole DeWalt 20V MAX line, including older brushed tools.

Our take on the DeWalt 20V MAX XR 6-Tool Compact Combo Kit

The DeWalt DCK684D2 is a six-piece cordless kit built on the 20V MAX XR brushless platform: drill/driver, three-speed impact driver, 7-1/4 in. circular saw, compact reciprocating saw, oscillating multi-tool and a 110-lumen work light. All six tools are brushless, and the kit ships with two 2.0Ah batteries, a charger and a contractor bag. The 2.0Ah packs are the small end of DeWalt's 20V line, so runtime is modest on the saws and reciprocating saw. At $1,168.51 at usatoolsinc.com as of November 4, 2026, it is the best new price across the four stores that list it new.

What reviewers say

Owners of DeWalt's XR brushless tools generally rate the drill, impact driver and multi-tool highly for power and durability, and combo kits are a common way in. The usual complaint about this kit is battery capacity: 2.0Ah packs run down quickly in the saws.

Pros

Impact driver torque and speed control
Brushless motor efficiency and long tool life
Battery compatibility across the 20V MAX line
Compact size of the drill and impact driver

Cons

2.0Ah batteries drain fast in saws
Kit price adds up versus buying tools separately
Soft bag offers little protection
