Questions and answers

Is this impact driver worth it over a drill?
Yes if you drive screws and lag bolts regularly. An impact driver delivers rotational blows that a drill cannot, so it drives long fasteners with less wrist strain and cam-out.
How does it compare with DeWalt's XR impact driver?
The ATOMIC is shorter and lighter, which helps in tight spaces. The XR line generally offers higher torque and more kit options, so choose XR for heavy framing and ATOMIC for all-around and overhead work.
What is the battery life like?
The included 5.0Ah pack is large for this class and should cover a full day of typical driving. Runtime drops fast when you run large lag screws at full speed.
Does it accept standard 1/4 in. hex bits?
Yes. The 1/4 in. quick-release hex chuck takes standard impact-rated bits and bit holders. Use impact-rated bits, not plain drill bits.
What comes in the box?
The driver, one 20V MAX 5.0Ah lithium-ion battery and a charger. Confirm whether a bag or belt hook is included before buying, since kit contents vary.
When is it cheapest?
DeWalt kits usually drop during holiday sales and spring tool events. Watch the price history and buy when the kit falls below its usual range.
What do buyers say about the DeWalt ATOMIC 20V MAX* 1/4 in. Brushless Cordless 3-Speed Impact Driver?
Rated 4.9 out of 5 from 138 ratings.
