Is the DCW210N worth it over a corded sander?

If you already own DEWALT 18V batteries, yes: you get cordless freedom and brushless durability with little loss in finish quality. If you sand indoors at a bench all day, a corded 5 in sander costs less and gives stronger dust capture.

What comes in the box?

The sander only. No battery, charger, dust bag or sanding sheets are included, so budget for an 18V pack, a charger if you have none, and 125 mm hook-and-loop paper.

Does it fit standard 5 in sanding discs?

The pad is 125 mm, which is 5 in, so standard 5 in hook-and-loop discs fit if the hole pattern matches the pad. Check the disc's dust holes line up with the pad before buying in bulk.

How is dust collection handled?

The port takes DEWALT AirLock or a standard 35 mm hose, so a shop vacuum or extractor works well. Running without extraction leaves fine dust in the air.

What battery does it need?

Any DEWALT 18V XR pack works, and a 4Ah or 5Ah pack gives the best runtime for continuous sanding. Small 2Ah packs work but drain faster under load.

Bare units usually drop during DEWALT promotions and holiday sales, and bundles with a battery can beat buying separately. The current best price is $159 at Distritech as of November 3.

Our take on the DEWALT DCW210N XR Brushless Random Orbital Sander 18V Bare Unit

The DEWALT DCW210N XR is an 18V cordless random orbital sander with a brushless motor and a 125 mm (5 in) pad. It runs 8,000 to 12,000 orbits per minute with variable speed, an electronic brake and a dust port that fits AirLock or a 35 mm extractor. It is a bare unit: no battery or charger is included, so you need an existing DEWALT 18V pack. The latest best price is $159 at Distritech as of November 3.
