Our take on the Downlite Deluxe Hotel Feather Bed With Handles

The Downlite Deluxe Hotel Feather Bed is a 4-inch gusseted mattress topper filled with white and grey duck feathers in 15 x 16 inch baffle boxes, so the fill stays evenly distributed instead of clumping at the corners. The 100% cotton twill cover is Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certified and marketed as hypoallergenic, and sewn-in handles make it easier to rotate and fluff. It comes in Queen and King only. At $81.43 at Downlite Bedding as of November 6, 2026, it sits at the low end of its recent range, well under the $150-plus typical of hotel-style feather beds.

Best forShoppers who want a soft hotel-style pillow-top feel without a new mattressBack and side sleepers who want cushioning over a firm mattressGuest rooms and rentals that need a plush, easy-to-make bedAnyone who prefers feather fill over memory foam
Pros
  • 4-inch gusset gives real loft, not a flat pad
  • Baffle-box construction keeps feathers from shifting to one end
  • 100% cotton twill cover breathes better than polyester shells
  • Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certified and labeled hypoallergenic
  • Handles make rotating and fluffing easier

Cons

  • Needs regular shaking and airing to keep its loft
  • Only Queen and King sizes
  • Not for kids or anyone who wants a washable topper

Questions and answers

Is $81.43 a good price for this feather bed?
Yes. That is at the low end of its recent range and well below the $150-plus many hotel-style feather beds cost. It is the best new price among the 3 stores listing it as of November 6, 2026.
Does it sleep hot?
It is warmer than a bare mattress but cooler than memory foam, since the cotton twill cover and feather fill breathe. Hot sleepers should still use a breathable mattress pad over it.
Will feathers poke through?
Some owners report occasional quills working through the shell. A tight-fitting mattress pad over the topper reduces the problem.
How do I keep it lofty?
Shake it out and air it every few weeks, and rotate it using the handles. Avoid washing it; spot clean the cover instead.
What sizes does it come in?
Queen and King only. The Queen measures 80 by 60 inches with a 4-inch gusset.
Is it good for allergy sufferers?
It is Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certified and labeled hypoallergenic, but it is still feather-filled. People with severe feather allergies should choose a down-alternative topper instead.
