Our take on the Dyson Ball Animal Total Clean Upright Vacuum

The Dyson Ball Animal Total Clean is a corded upright vacuum built around Dyson's ball steering and a self-adjusting cleaner head for carpets and hard floors. It is aimed at homes with pets and heavy shedding, with a tangle-free turbine tool and a large bagless bin. It weighs 17 lb, so it is a heavy machine to carry up stairs. The best new price is $299.99 at Target as of November 5, 2026, the only new price found and well below what this model has typically sold for.

Questions and answers

Is $299.99 a good price for the Dyson Ball Animal Total Clean?
It is the only new price found and sits well below this model's usual selling price, so it is a strong deal if you want a corded upright. Check that the listing is the Total Clean version with the turbine tool.
How does it handle pet hair?
It is designed for pet homes, with strong suction and a tangle-free turbine tool for stairs and upholstery. Owners consistently rate pet-hair pickup as its best strength.
Is it good on stairs?
The wand and turbine tool work on stairs, but the 17 lb body is awkward to balance on steps. Many owners keep a lighter vacuum for stairs and use this one on main floors.
Does it work on hard floors?
Yes. The cleaner head self-adjusts for carpet and hard floor, though the brush bar can scatter debris on bare floors at times.
What comes in the box?
The vacuum, a wand, a combination tool and the tangle-free turbine tool for pet hair. Confirm the included tools on the listing, since bundles vary.
When is it cheapest?
Corded uprights like this drop most around major sales events and when a model is being replaced. Track the price history before buying outside a sale.
