Our take on the Dyson HD16 Supersonic Nural Hair Dryer

The Dyson Supersonic Nural (HD16) is Dyson's flagship hair dryer, adding a scalp-protection mode that drops heat as the head nears your scalp and a sensor that remembers your preferred heat and airflow settings. It keeps the fast digital motor and magnetic attachments of the Supersonic line. At $293.50 at eBay as of November 5, 2026, it sits well below the $400-plus the Nural usually sells for new, so this is a strong price for the model.

Best forFrequent blow-dryers who want less heat damagePeople with fine or sensitive scalpsOwners of the original Supersonic considering an upgradeAnyone who wants fast drying with automatic settings
Pros
  • Scalp-protect mode cuts heat automatically near the head
  • Attachment recognition recalls your last settings per head
  • Fast drying from Dyson's digital motor
  • Magnetic attachments click on and stay put

Cons
  • Full price is high for a hair dryer
  • Nural features add little over the original Supersonic for some users
  • Heavy for long sessions at arm's length
  • Replacement attachments cost extra
  • The listed style ships without attachments

Questions and answers

Is the Nural worth it over the original Supersonic?
If you often worry about heat damage or burn your scalp, the scalp-protect mode and attachment memory justify the Nural. Otherwise the original Supersonic dries hair nearly as fast for less.
What does the scalp-protect mode do?
A time-of-flight sensor detects how close the dryer is to your head and lowers the heat as it gets near your scalp. It works automatically once enabled.
Does this listing include attachments?
The listed style is "Without Attachment," so the box has the dryer only. Check the listing before buying if you want the flyaway or styling heads.
Will the plug work in the US?
The listed plug is AE/UK/SA/HK (3-pin), which is not a standard US plug. You would need an adapter or a different plug variant.
When is it cheapest?
Dyson dryers tend to dip during Black Friday and end-of-season sales. The $293.50 eBay price as of November 5, 2026 is already well under typical new pricing.
Where is the Dyson HD16 Supersonic Nural Hair Dryer cheapest?
At Microless.com, for $373.70, as of our latest check.
