Our take on the Dyson V10 Animal + Cordless Vacuum

The Dyson V10 Animal + is a cordless stick vacuum built for homes with pets, with a 0.2-gallon bin, a HEPA filter and a torque-drive cleaner head. It converts to a handheld for stairs and cars, and its run time is about 60 minutes on the lowest setting, far less on max. It is an older V10-generation model, so it sits well below newer Dyson sticks in price and is best judged on the deal you can find.

Best forPet owners dealing with hair on carpet and upholsteryApartments and small homes without much floor spaceQuick daily cleanups instead of deep weekly vacuumingBuyers who want Dyson suction for less than a V11 or V15

  • About 60 minutes only on the lowest power setting
  • Max mode drains the battery in under 10 minutes
  • 0.2-gallon bin needs emptying often

Questions and answers

Is the Dyson V10 Animal + worth it?
Yes if you want strong cordless suction and pet tools at a lower price than newer Dyson models. Skip it if you need long run time or a large bin for whole-house cleaning.
How long does the battery last?
About 60 minutes on the lowest setting, roughly 30 minutes on medium and under 10 minutes on max. Real run time depends on the head and floor type.
How does it compare with the V11 or V15?
The V11 and V15 have bigger bins, longer run times and more powerful suction. The V10 Animal + costs less and is lighter, which suits smaller homes and quick cleanups.
Does it work on pet hair and carpet?
Yes. The torque-drive cleaner head and the mini motorized tool are made for carpet and upholstery, and the HEPA filter helps keep fine dust and dander in the bin.
What is in the box?
Bundles vary, but the Animal + typically includes the vacuum, battery, charger, torque-drive cleaner head, combination tool, crevice tool and mini motorized tool. Check the listing for the exact tools and whether a wall dock is included.
When is it cheapest?
Older Dyson sticks drop most during major sales events and when a successor generation is promoted. Watch the price history rather than buying at the first listed price.
