Our take on the Ebern Designs Elfrieda 92" W Reversible Sleeper Sectional with Storage

The Elfrieda is a 92-inch reversible sleeper sectional from Ebern Designs, upholstered in beige chenille over a wood frame. The chaise can be mounted on either side, and the sofa converts to a bed for guests. Storage is built into the chaise, and two cup holders sit in the armrest. It is a large piece: 92 inches wide means it needs a long wall or a big living room.

Best forLiving rooms that need seating for five or moreGuest rooms and studios that double as a loungeRenters who may need the chaise on either sideHouseholds that want hidden blanket and pillow storage
Pros
  • Reversible chaise fits left- or right-facing room layouts
  • Converts to a sleeper for overnight guests
  • Storage compartment in the chaise holds bedding and pillows
  • Cup holders built into the armrest
  • Chenille fabric has a soft hand and hides light wear
  • Wood frame gives it a sturdier feel than particleboard-only sofas
Cons
  • 92-inch width needs a wall roughly 8 feet long
  • Sleeper is a pull-out style, not a true mattress sofa bed
  • Beige chenille shows stains and needs spot cleaning
  • Cup holders are plastic and feel basic
  • Heavy and awkward to move once assembled

Questions and answers

Is the Elfrieda sectional a good value?
At its typical price it undercuts most reversible sleeper sectionals with storage. You trade some cushion durability and a thin sleeper mattress for size and flexibility.
Can the chaise be switched to the other side?
Yes. The chaise section is reversible, so you can set it on the left or right when you assemble it. You cannot switch it later without disassembling the sofa.
Does it come with a mattress for the sleeper?
It uses a fold-out sleeper mechanism with a thin foam mattress included. It suits occasional guests; for nightly sleeping, add a mattress topper.
How much floor space does it need?
The sofa is 92 inches wide, so plan on a wall about 8 feet long. Leave clearance in front for the sleeper to fold out.
What is included in the box?
The boxes contain the frame, cushions, chaise storage base, sleeper mechanism, cup holders and hardware. Assembly is required and takes a few hours.
When is the best time to buy it?
Sectionals from this brand tend to drop during major holiday sales and end-of-season clearance. Track the price history and buy when it falls below its usual range.
