Is the Echo PB-580T worth it over a handheld blower?

For large yards or professional work, yes. The backpack design and 510 CFM cut cleanup time and arm fatigue compared with handheld gas models. For a small suburban lot, a lighter handheld or cordless blower is usually enough.

How does it compare with the PB-580H or older Echo backpack models?

The PB-580T is the tube-mounted-throttle version, which puts speed control at your hand instead of on the pack. It also adds a vented back pad. Output is in the same class as other 58 cc Echo backpacks, so the main gains are ergonomics.

What fuel mix does it need?

It is a two-stroke engine, so it runs on a gasoline and oil mix, typically 50:1 with Echo's two-stroke oil. Use fresh fuel and follow the manual's ratio; do not run straight gas.

How loud is it, and do I need hearing protection?

Echo rates it around 70 dB, but gas blowers at full throttle are loud enough to warrant ear protection. Wear safety glasses too, since it moves a lot of debris.

What comes in the box?

The blower ships with the backpack frame, blower tubes, and the tube-mounted throttle assembly. Fuel and oil are not included, so plan to mix your own before first use.

When is the best time to buy it?

Fall leaf season is peak demand, so prices hold firm then. Late winter and early spring, when blowers are less in demand, tend to bring the lowest prices. The current $349.99 at Russo Power Equipment as of November 5, 2026 is already near the low end of its recent range.
