Our take on the Edx Egg Crate Mattress Topper with 5-Zone Cooling Gel Memory Foam

The Edx Egg Crate Mattress Topper is a 3-inch king-size pad combining an egg-crate foam surface with a cooling gel memory foam layer. The egg-crate profile is designed to let air move under your body, while the gel foam adds pressure relief and aims to sleep cooler than plain memory foam. It is a budget way to soften a firm mattress rather than replace it. It has 21 ratings averaging 4.2 out of 5, so owner feedback is limited but mostly positive.

Best forSoftening a too-firm mattress on a budgetHot sleepers who want airflow under the bodyGuest beds and dorm or rental roomsBack and side sleepers wanting light pressure relief
Pros
  • 3-inch thickness adds real cushioning
  • Egg-crate surface helps air circulate
  • Gel memory foam targets heat buildup
  • King size covers a full king mattress
  • Cheaper than replacing a mattress
Cons
  • Egg-crate foam can flatten with heavy, long-term use
  • Gel foam still sleeps warmer than latex or innerspring
  • Topper may shift without a grip base or straps
  • Only 21 ratings, so the 4.2 score is a small sample
  • Adds height, so deep-pocket sheets may be needed

Questions and answers

Is this topper worth it?
If your mattress is too firm and you want cushioning without buying a new bed, it is a low-cost fix. Expect a comfort boost, not a permanent rebuild of the mattress.
Will it make me sleep cooler?
The egg-crate surface and gel foam help airflow and heat compared with flat memory foam, but it is not a true cooling pad. Very hot sleepers may still want a breathable mattress protector.
Will it fit a king mattress?
Yes, it is sold in king size. Because it adds 3 inches of height, use deep-pocket sheets so they stay tucked.
Does it have a warranty or certification?
No warranty or foam certification details are listed here. Check the packaging or the seller's page before buying if either matters to you.
How do I keep it from sliding?
Place it under a fitted sheet and consider a topper grip pad or straps. Smooth mattress tops let foam toppers shift, especially on adjustable bases.
When is it cheapest?
Foam toppers like this usually drop during mattress sales around holidays and back-to-school season. Compare the price history before buying.
What do buyers say about the Edx Egg Crate Mattress Topper with 5-Zone Cooling Gel Memory Foam?
