Is the Ego Powerload trimmer worth it over a cheaper corded model?

If you have more than a small courtyard, yes. The cordless freedom, brushless motor and self-winding head are the main reasons people pay more than for a corded trimmer.

How long does the included 2.5Ah battery last?

Ego rates it at about 30 minutes of runtime. Real-world time depends on speed setting and grass thickness, so a larger yard will want a second battery.

Does it work with other Ego 56V batteries?

Yes. Any Ego 56V ARC Lithium pack fits, and a larger pack such as a 5.0Ah or 7.5Ah roughly doubles or triples runtime.

What comes in the box?

The trimmer, a 56V 2.5Ah battery, a standard charger, cutting line and a hex wrench.

Can I use any trimmer line in the Powerload head?

Ego specifies 0.095-inch dual-feed spiral twist line. Other line may feed poorly through the Powerload mechanism, so stick with the recommended size.

When is the best time to buy it?

Spring and early summer are peak pricing. Late fall and winter clearance, plus bundle deals that add a second battery, tend to be the cheapest windows.

Our take on the Ego Power+ Powerload 15-Inch 56V String Trimmer

The Ego Power+ Powerload is a 56V cordless string trimmer with a 15-inch cutting swath and a brushless motor that spins the line at up to 5,800 rpm. Its headline feature is the Powerload head: feed the line in and press a button, and the trimmer winds the spool itself. It ships with a 2.5Ah ARC Lithium battery and standard charger, and the carbon fiber shaft carries a lifetime warranty. At $149.99 at eBay as of November 4, 2026, the kit sits at the low end of what this trimmer has recently sold for.
