Is the Epiphone Les Paul Tribute worth it for a beginner?

Yes, if you want a full-size Les Paul on a tight budget. It has the standard 24.75-inch scale, two humbuckers and a slim neck, and at $299 at Amazon as of November 4, 2026 it is cheap enough to leave room for an amp and a setup.

How does the Tribute differ from the Epiphone Les Paul Standard?

The Tribute uses a plain mahogany body without a maple cap and ceramic 650R/700T pickups, while the Standard adds a maple top, alnico ProBucker pickups and usually coil splitting. The Standard costs more; the Tribute is the stripped-down version.

Do the pickups coil split?

No. The Tribute has two volume and two tone knobs with no push-pull splitting, so you get standard humbucker tones only.

Does it come with a case?

No. The guitar ships without a case or gig bag, so budget for one if you plan to take it out.

Is the neck good for small hands?

The 60s SlimTaper C profile and 1.69-inch nut width are on the slim side for a Les Paul, which most players with smaller hands find comfortable.

When is the best time to buy it?

At $299 at Amazon as of November 4, 2026 it is already near the bottom of its recent range. Watch for holiday sales and bundle deals with a bag or amp, since the guitar itself rarely drops much below this.

Our take on the Epiphone Les Paul Tribute

The Epiphone Les Paul Tribute is a budget single-cut electric guitar built to the classic Les Paul recipe: a carved mahogany body, a mahogany neck with a slim 60s SlimTaper C profile, and a 24.75-inch scale laurel fretboard with 22 frets. It carries Epiphone's 650R neck and 700T bridge ceramic humbuckers with nickel covers, wired to two volume and two tone knobs. The Tribute is the entry point to the Les Paul shape, so it skips a maple cap, coil splitting and a hardshell case. At $299 at Amazon as of November 4, 2026, it sits at the low end of what this model has sold for recently, with three stores listing it new.
