Is the L790SE really 4K?

No. Its panels are native WUXGA (1920x1200) and it uses 4K Enhancement pixel shifting to approximate 3840x2160. Text and detail look sharper than plain WUXGA, but it is not a native 4K projector.

How big an image can it throw from close up?

With a 0.79–1.36 throw ratio it can fill screens up to 400 inches, and the short throw lets it sit well in front of the wall rather than at the back of the room. The 1.7x optical zoom gives some room to adjust the size.

Do I ever need to replace a lamp?

No. The laser light source is rated for 30,000 hours, which covers years of typical meeting-room or classroom use. Brightness fades gradually over that life rather than failing suddenly.

What inputs does it have?

It has HDBaseT for long-run cabling, HDMI output, and Wi-Fi with Miracast for wireless casting. There is no built-in media player, so you supply the source.

Is it bright enough for a lit room?

At 7,000 ANSI lumens it is designed for rooms with lights on, such as classrooms and conference spaces. Very bright daylight on the screen will still wash out contrast.
