Our take on the Even Embers 44 Inch Round Charcoal and Wood Burning Fire Pit with Swivel Cooking Grate

The Even Embers 44 Inch is a round steel fire pit built for wood and charcoal, with a swivel cooking grate that lets you grill over the fire and swing it aside to tend the coals. The 44-inch bowl is large enough for a real fire and a group around it, and the 62 lb heavy-gauge steel body is meant to stay put in a backyard. At $149.99 at Tractor Supply Company as of November 3, 2026, it is the only new price listed, so there is no recent range to compare against.

Questions and answers

Is it worth buying over a plain fire pit?
If you want to cook over the fire, yes. The swivel grate adds grilling without a separate grill, and $149.99 at Tractor Supply Company as of November 3, 2026 is a fair price for a 44-inch steel pit with a grate.
Can I use charcoal and wood together?
Yes. The bowl takes either fuel, and many owners start charcoal for cooking and add wood for flame and smoke.
Does it come with a cover or spark screen?
No. The box includes the fire pit and cooking grate. You will need to buy a cover and screen separately if you want them.
How hard is it to clean out?
It takes some work. There is no ash pan, so you scoop ash out of the 44-inch bowl once it is fully cool.
Will it rust?
Steel fire pits rust when left in rain and damp. Keep it covered when not in use and touch up spots to slow it down.
When is it cheapest?
Fire pits usually drop in late summer and around end-of-season clearance. Watch the price into fall rather than buying at the start of summer.
Where is the Even Embers 44 Inch Round Charcoal and Wood Burning Fire Pit with Swivel Cooking Grate cheapest?
At Tractor Supply Company, for $149.99, as of our latest check.
What do buyers say about the Even Embers 44 Inch Round Charcoal and Wood Burning Fire Pit with Swivel Cooking Grate?
Rated 4.6 out of 5 from 24 ratings.
