Our take on the EZ-ACCESS PATHWAY Straight Aluminum Wheelchair Ramp Kit with 5' Top Platform, 4 ft

The EZ-ACCESS PATHWAY is a modular straight aluminum ramp kit for getting a wheelchair or walker up a short step into a home. This configuration pairs a 4 ft ramp run with a 5 ft top platform and a two-line handrail, and it is rated to 1,000 lbs. The ramp meets ADA slope rules only when installed at 1:12, so the 4 ft run covers about 4 inches of rise; the platform adds a level landing at the door. It is a permanent, heavy outdoor structure at 283 lbs, not a portable ramp.

Cons
  • 283 lbs and permanent mounting make it a fixed install, not portable

Questions and answers

Is this ramp ADA compliant?
Only if it is installed at a 1:12 slope. The listing itself marks it as not ADA compliant, so the installer has to set the grade correctly.
How much rise does the 4 ft ramp cover?
At the 1:12 ADA slope, a 4 ft run handles about 4 inches of rise. The 5 ft top platform adds a flat landing at the door but does not add rise.
Can it hold a power wheelchair?
Yes. It is rated to 1,000 lbs, which covers most power chairs and scooters as well as manual wheelchairs.
Is it portable?
No. At 283 lbs with a fixed platform and handrail, it is meant to be installed and left in place outdoors.
What is included in the kit?
The kit includes the 4 ft straight ramp run, the 5 ft top platform and the two-line handrail. Check the listing for the exact component list before ordering.
When is the best time to buy?
No price history is available for this listing, so there is no seasonal low to point to. Compare store prices before ordering.
