Our take on the FilterBaby Diamond Series Shower Filter

The FilterBaby Diamond Series is an inline shower filter that screws on between the pipe and the shower head. It targets chlorine and chloramine, which FilterBaby says it removes up to 99%, and the cartridge is changed every 90 days. It is not a water softener and does not use reverse osmosis, so it will not fix hard water or scale. The best new price is $56.50 at Ulta Beauty as of November 6, 2026, with three stores carrying it new.

Best forRenters who want filtered shower water without plumbing workHouseholds on city water treated with chlorine or chloraminePeople with dry skin or brittle hair who suspect chlorineAnyone who wants a quick screw-on install and simple cartridge swaps
Pros
  • Screws onto the existing shower arm with no tools or plumbing
  • Targets both chlorine and chloramine, which many basic shower filters miss
  • Cartridge swap every 90 days is simple
  • Comes in chrome, gold and pink to match the bathroom
  • Lab-certified chlorine and chloramine removal claims
Cons
  • Not a water softener, so it does nothing for hard water or limescale
  • Cartridge replacement every 3 months adds ongoing cost
  • No WaterSense certification, so no flow-rate guarantee
  • Filter life is fixed at 90 days regardless of how much you shower

Questions and answers

Does it remove chloramine as well as chlorine?
Yes. FilterBaby rates it for up to 99% removal of both chlorine and chloramine, which is more than many shower filters handle.
How often do I replace the cartridge?
Every 90 days, or about every three months. The filter life is fixed, not based on gallons used.
Will it soften hard water?
No. It is a filter, not a water softener, so it will not remove calcium and magnesium or stop limescale.
Is it hard to install?
No. It mounts on the shower arm between the pipe and the shower head, and most buyers install it without tools.
What colors does it come in?
Chrome, gold and pink.
Is $56.50 a good price?
It is the best new price among the three stores carrying it as of November 6, 2026. Factor in cartridge replacements every 90 days when comparing total cost.
