Is the Forno Salerno worth $1,699?

At $1,699 at Walmart as of November 5, 2026, it is a fair price for a 36-inch side-by-side with a water and ice dispenser. You are paying for the width and the dispenser more than for premium shelving or a dual ice maker.

Does it make cubed ice or only crushed ice?

The listed ice type is crushed ice from a single ice maker. If you mainly want cubed ice, check the dispenser before buying.

Will it fit a 36-inch opening?

Yes. It is a 36-inch-wide freestanding unit, 70.08 inches tall. Leave clearance for the doors to swing and for ventilation at the back and sides.

How much does it cost to run?

It is rated at 238 kWh per year. At a typical US electricity rate of about 16 cents per kWh, that is roughly $38 a year.

What is the fridge-to-freezer split?

The freezer is 6.53 cu ft and the rest of the 20 cu ft is the fresh-food side. The side-by-side layout means both compartments are tall and narrow.

Only one store, Walmart, lists it new at $1,699 as of November 5, 2026. Major-appliance sales around holidays are the usual times for cuts, so watch the price history before buying.

Our take on the Forno Salerno 36-Inch Side-by-Side Stainless Steel Refrigerator

The Forno Salerno is a 36-inch freestanding side-by-side refrigerator with 20 cu ft of total space, split into a 13.5 cu ft fridge and a 6.53 cu ft freezer. It pairs stainless steel doors with a touchpad control panel and an in-door water and crushed-ice dispenser, and it runs on automatic defrost at a rated 238 kWh per year. At $1,699 at Walmart as of November 5, 2026, it sits at the low end of what 36-inch side-by-sides with a dispenser cost. Only one store is listed at that price, so there is little to compare against.
