Our take on the FPD 32" 720p HD Smart TV

The FPD 32" is a small 720p LED smart TV built on Samsung's Tizen platform, so it carries the familiar app store, Netflix and SmartThings support. It has two HDMI ports, HDR10 decoding, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi Direct, and a 60 Hz panel rated at 240 nits. At 32 inches and 720p it suits a bedroom, kitchen or dorm rather than a main room. Questions and answers

Is 720p good enough for a 32-inch TV?
At normal viewing distance of 6 to 8 feet, 720p on 32 inches is watchable but visibly softer than a 1080p set of the same size. If you sit close or read lots of on-screen text, spend more for 1080p.
Does this TV support Netflix and other streaming apps?
Yes. It runs Tizen, so Netflix and the Samsung app store are built in, and you can add other services from the store. No streaming stick is required.
Can I mount it on a wall?
Yes, it is listed as wall-mountable. Check the VESA pattern and screw size on the box before buying a bracket, since FPD does not publish it here.
How many devices can I plug in?
Two HDMI devices plus USB. That covers, for example, a console and a streaming box, but not much more without a switch.
Is HDR10 worth having on this set?
Only marginally. At 240 nits the panel cannot produce bright HDR highlights, so HDR10 content will look close to standard dynamic range. Treat it as a compatibility feature, not a picture upgrade.
When is the best time to buy?
Small TVs like this see the deepest discounts around Black Friday and back-to-school season. Compare the current price against its recent range before buying.
What do buyers say about the FPD 32" 720p HD Smart TV?
Rated 3.5 out of 5 from 26 ratings.
