How does the push-back recline work?

You lean back against the backrest to recline and push forward to return upright. There is no lever, handle or motor.

Will it fit in a small apartment?

At 27 in wide and 39.5 in high it takes little floor space, but leave clearance behind it to lean back into the recline.

What is the weight limit?

The wood frame is rated for up to 300 lb.

Is corduroy hard to clean?

Corduroy holds dust and shows crushing in high-wear spots. Vacuum it with a brush attachment and blot spills rather than rubbing.

Is $491.99 a good price?

Only one store lists it new at $491.99 as of November 6, 2026, so there is no competing price to beat. Watch for seasonal furniture sales at that store.

The chair ships unassembled with its frame, upholstered parts and hardware. Assembly is required.

Our take on the GDFStudio Carter Contemporary Corduroy Upholstered Push-Back Recliner Chair

The GDFStudio Carter is a push-back recliner upholstered in corduroy, with a wood frame rated to 300 lb. It reclines by leaning back rather than with a lever or handle, so it looks like an accent chair when upright. At 27 in wide and 39.5 in high, it fits where a full-size recliner will not. The best new price is $491.99 at Target as of November 6, 2026, and only one store lists it new, so there is no lower price to compare against right now.
