Our take on the George Oliver 78" Wave Fluted Media Console TV Stand

The George Oliver 78" Wave Fluted Media Console is a solid wood TV stand with a sculpted, wave-fluted front and closed cabinet storage. It holds TVs up to 85 inches, so it suits large living room setups. At $549.99 at Wayfair as of November 3, 2026, it is the only new price listed, so there is no recent range to compare against.

Pros
  • Solid wood construction
  • Fluted wave front gives it a furniture look, not a plain box
  • 78 inches wide, rated for TVs up to 85 inches
  • Closed cabinet hides consoles, cables and remotes
  • Works as a sideboard as well as a TV stand
Cons
  • One new price listed, so no discount to judge
  • Solid wood at this size is heavy and awkward to move alone
  • Fluted front needs dusting between the grooves
  • No open shelving for media players that need airflow
  • Only one store carries it new

Questions and answers

Is $549.99 a good price for this console?
It is the only new price listed, at Wayfair as of November 3, 2026, so there is nothing to compare it to. Judge it against other solid wood consoles around 78 inches wide, which often cost more.
Will it hold an 85-inch TV?
Yes. It is rated for screens up to 85 inches, and at 78 inches wide it gives a large TV a stable base with room on each side.
Is it real solid wood?
The listing specifies solid wood. Expect a heavy, sturdy piece, and check the weight before you plan to move it upstairs or assemble it alone.
Does it have open shelves for a cable box?
Storage is in a closed cabinet. Devices that run hot, like a receiver or game console, need airflow, so plan ventilation or leave the doors ajar during use.
What is the difference from a plain media console?
The wave-fluted front is the main difference. It is a design piece, so it costs more than a flat-front console of the same size.
When is it cheapest?
With only one store listing it new, there is no price history to time a purchase around. Watch for Wayfair sitewide sales rather than a product-specific drop.
Where is the George Oliver 78" Wave Fluted Media Console TV Stand cheapest?
At Wayfair, for $549.99, as of our latest check.
