Is it worth it over a wooden daybed?

It costs less than most wooden daybeds and holds more weight than many of them. Wood looks warmer, but metal is easier to clean and less prone to scratches in a kids' room.

Does it need a box spring?

No. Slats are included, so a twin mattress sits directly on the frame. A box spring would add height you probably do not want with the guardrail.

What mattress size fits?

A standard twin mattress, about 38 by 75 inches. The frame is 77.5 inches long and 41.5 inches wide, so a twin leaves a small gap at the sides.

How much clearance is under the bed?

10.5 inches from the floor to the frame. That fits low storage bins and flat boxes but not tall drawers.

Is it safe for a young child?

The three-sided guardrail helps prevent rolling out, and the 660 lb capacity is generous. Check that the mattress top sits below the rail once loaded.

Metal daybeds like this tend to dip during back-to-school and Black Friday sales. Watch the price history rather than buying at full price in spring.

Our take on the Giantex Twin Size Metal Daybed Frame

The Giantex Twin Metal Daybed Frame is a steel daybed with a three-sided guardrail, a metal headboard and included slats, so no box spring is needed. It holds up to 660 lbs and leaves 10.5 inches of clearance underneath for storage. It suits small rooms and kids' rooms where a sofa by day and a bed by night helps. At 77.5 by 41.5 by 34 inches, it is a standard twin footprint.
