Is the GIVIMO PDU worth it over a basic power strip?

If your gear lives in a 19-inch rack, yes: it mounts in 1U and keeps eight plugs organized. If you only need outlets on a desk, a plain strip costs less.

Does it protect against surges well enough for servers?

1,800 joules handles typical spikes but is modest for a rack with a server and NAS. For expensive gear, pair it with a higher-rated surge protector or a UPS.

Can I switch outlets on and off remotely?

No. This is a passive PDU with no metering, network control or per-outlet switching. Look at a switched PDU if you need remote power cycling.

What comes in the box?

Expect the PDU itself and mounting hardware for a standard rack. Check the listing for the power cord length and plug type before buying.

It is a 1U unit sized for standard 19-inch racks. Confirm your rack's depth and mounting rail type, and that the cord reaches your outlet or UPS.

Our take on the GIVIMO 8-Outlet 1U Rack Mount PDU Power Strip

The GIVIMO 8-Outlet 1U Rack Mount PDU is a rack-mountable power strip that puts eight outlets across a single 1U space in a standard 19-inch rack. It carries a 1,800-joule surge rating, which is modest protection for a rack full of gear. It is a basic distribution unit: no metering, no remote switching, no outlet-level control. Shoppers comparing it should weigh the low price against the lack of smart features and the limited surge rating.
