Is a brushless sander worth it over a brushed one?

Yes if you sand often. Brushless motors spark less, run cooler and typically last longer, and they keep more torque under load. You pay more up front for that.

Can it remove paint and finish, or is it only for final sanding?

It can remove paint and finish on flat surfaces with coarse paper, but it is slower than a belt sander. Use it for the smoothing and finishing passes.

Does the dust collector work well?

The canister catches a good share of dust, but it fills quickly on large jobs. Hooking up a shop vacuum through the port collects far more.

What size sanding discs does it take?

It uses 6-inch hook-and-loop discs. Six-inch paper is easy to find online but less stocked in local stores than 5-inch.

Expect the sander, a dust canister and usually a sample disc or two. Extra discs and a vacuum adapter are often sold separately.

When is the best time to buy it?

Corded power tools see the deepest discounts around major sales events and in late fall. Watch the price history and buy when it sits near its low.

Our take on the GIVIMO 6-in 400W Brushless Random Orbital Sander

The GIVIMO 6-in 400W Brushless Random Orbital Sander is a corded electric finishing sander with a 6-inch pad, a brushless motor and a built-in dust collector. The brushless motor is the standout: it runs cooler and lasts longer than the brushed motors common at this power level, and 400W is enough for paint removal and finish sanding on flat panels. No current price or price history is available for it, so check the live comparison before buying.
