Is this furnace legal outside California?

It is listed as a California-only, low-NOx product. Check local rules before buying; many states allow standard NOx models, but this one is configured for California compliance.

What size home does 80,000 BTU heat?

Roughly a 2,000 to 2,500 sq ft home in a moderate climate, less in cold regions. A load calculation from a contractor is the only reliable way to size it.

Does it need special venting?

Yes. As a 96% condensing furnace it vents through PVC pipe and needs a condensate drain, not a metal flue.

Can I install it myself?

No. Gas furnaces require a licensed HVAC contractor for permits, gas piping, venting and warranty coverage.

When is the price lowest?

Furnace prices tend to dip in spring and early fall, before heating season demand. The current best new price is $2,076 at eBay as of November 7, 2026.
