Our take on the GOOVIS G3X OLED VR Headset

The GOOVIS G3X is a lightweight OLED headset that works as a private big screen rather than a room-scale VR system. It puts dual 1080p OLED panels behind glass aspheric lenses with a 52-degree field of view, and built-in diopter adjustment from +3.0D to -8.0D lets many nearsighted and farsighted users skip glasses. At 190g with a multi-point headband, it is built for watching movies and playing flat games from a PC, console, Steam Deck or phone over USB-C or HDMI 2.1. Its only recorded price is $599 at the listed store as of November 1, 2026, so there is no cheaper recent price to wait for.

Best forMovie and streaming watchers who want a private large screenSteam Deck, ROG Ally and console playersPeople with strong prescriptions who want to wear it without glassesTravelers who want a portable display
Pros
  • OLED panels give deep blacks and strong contrast
  • Diopter adjustment covers +3.0D to -8.0D without glasses
  • Light at 190g with a multi-point headband
  • Wide input support: USB-C DisplayPort 1.4, HDMI 2.1, consoles and handhelds
  • Adjustable 56-72mm pupillary distance fits a range of faces
Cons
  • 52-degree field of view is much narrower than VR headsets
  • 60Hz refresh rate limits fast gaming
  • No motion tracking, so it is a viewer, not a VR system
  • Needs a wired source for most devices; no standalone apps
  • $599 is a high price for a display-only headset

Questions and answers

Is the GOOVIS G3X worth $599?
It is worth it if you want a private OLED screen for movies and handheld or console gaming and value the glasses-free diopter adjustment. If you want room-scale VR or high-refresh gaming, a VR headset or a monitor is a better use of the money.
Can I use it without glasses?
Yes, if your prescription falls within +3.0D to -8.0D. Each eye is adjusted separately with the diopter dials, and the 56-72mm pupillary distance range covers most adults. Strong astigmatism is not corrected.
Does it work with a Steam Deck or PS5?
Yes. The Steam Deck, ROG Ally and PS5 are listed as compatible, and the headset accepts USB-C DisplayPort 1.4 and HDMI 2.1. A dongle or adapter may be needed depending on the port.
Is the 60Hz refresh rate a problem?
For movies and slower games it is fine. For fast shooters or competitive play, 60Hz feels less smooth than 90Hz or 120Hz headsets.
What is in the box?
The listed configuration is a Luxury Bundle, which includes the headset and its accessories. Check the specific bundle contents before ordering, since cables and cases vary by seller.
When is it cheapest?
The only recorded price is $599 as of November 1, 2026, with no lower price in the recent range. There is no history yet to show a seasonal low.
