Is the Grill Boss 1500W smoker worth it?

For a first electric smoker, yes. It gives you thermostat control, 531 sq in and three racks for $300.19 at Best Buy as of November 5, 2026. If you want heavy charcoal smoke, spend elsewhere.

Yes. The thermostat goes down to 25°F, low enough for cheese, fish and jerky without cooking them. Keep the vent open and use a smoke tube or tray for chips.

531 sq in across three height-adjustable racks. Grill Boss rates it for up to 3 chickens, 6 racks of ribs or 2 turkeys at once.

Does it need a special outlet?

It runs on a standard 120V household outlet at 1500 watts. Don't share the circuit with another high-draw appliance.

The smoker body, three stainless steel racks, the grease tray and the electronic ignition parts. Wood chips and a meat probe are not included.

Electric smokers usually drop around spring grilling sales and Labor Day. The current $300.19 at Best Buy is the top of its recent range, so waiting for a markdown is reasonable.
