Our take on the Handy Home 10x12 Rookwood Wood Storage Shed Kit with Floor

The Handy Home Rookwood is a 10x12 wood storage shed kit with a floor included, sold as a pre-cut package you assemble on site. It offers about 1,019 cubic feet of storage under a peaked roof with a 5/12 pitch and overhang, and the siding is engineered wood-grain embossed panel. A keyed, rust-resistant locking handle is included, but the foundation is not. It suits buyers who want a ranch-style wooden outbuilding and are willing to build it themselves.

Questions and answers

Is the Handy Home Rookwood shed kit worth it?
It is a reasonable value if you want a wood shed with a floor included and can do the assembly yourself. Paying a contractor to build it adds significantly to the cost.
Does the kit include a floor and foundation?
The floor is included. The foundation is not, so you need a level, solid base such as a gravel pad or concrete slab before assembly.
How hard is it to assemble?
Expect a multi-day project for two people. The panels are pre-cut, but you should sort parts, read the instructions fully and have a level base ready first.
How much snow can the roof handle?
The roof is rated for a maximum load of 30 psf. That is fine for light snow regions, but check your local snow loads before buying if you get heavy winters.
Does the shed lock?
Yes. It comes with a premium, rust-resistant keyed locking handle, so you can secure the door with a key.
When is the best time to buy it?
Shed kits often see discounts in late summer and fall as stores clear seasonal inventory. Compare prices across stores and check the price history before buying.
