Questions and answers

Is the Hansen 5-inch Futon Mattress good for everyday sleeping?

It works for guest rooms and occasional sleeping. At 5 inches of foam and cotton, it is thinner than a standard mattress, so nightly sleepers may want more cushioning.

What size frame does it fit?

It measures 38 by 74 inches, the standard twin futon size. Check that your frame takes a twin futon before buying.

Is it firm or soft?

Hansen rates it medium. Owner reports suggest it leans firm, especially when new.

Does it come with a frame or foundation?

No. The mattress ships alone, so you need a futon frame or daybed base.

Is the foam certified?

Yes. The foam is CertiPUR-US certified, which covers emissions and content standards.

When is the best time to buy it?

Only one new price, $308.99 at Overstock as of November 7, 2026, is listed. Watch for futon sales around holidays, when frames and mattresses are often discounted.
