Is the Hawkray solar camera worth it?

It suits shoppers who want a wire-free PTZ camera with solar charging and no subscription requirement. Compare its price with fixed 2K solar cameras, which usually cost less but can't pan or zoom.

How long does the battery last without sun?

Hawkray does not publish a runtime figure for this model. Expect the solar panel to keep it charged in direct sun, and plan on recharging manually during long cloudy stretches or heavy motion-alert use.

Does it work with 5GHz Wi-Fi?

Yes. It supports both 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks, which is unusual for budget cameras and helps on crowded 5GHz home networks.

What is included in the box?

Typically the camera, solar panel, mounting bracket and screws, and a USB charging cable. A microSD card and power adapter are usually not included, so buy a card if you want local recording.

Does it need a subscription?

No subscription is required for live view and local recording to a microSD card. Cloud storage, if offered, is optional and adds a monthly cost.

When is the best time to buy it?

Solar security cameras tend to drop around spring home-improvement sales and Black Friday. Track the price history here and buy when it falls below its recent average.
