Our take on the HERCULES 20V Brushless Cordless, 1/4 in. Compact, 3-Speed Impact Driver

The HERCULES 20V Brushless 1/4 in. Impact Driver is a cordless three-speed driver rated at 184 ft-lb of torque and 3,600 RPM, sold under Harbor Freight's premium house brand. Its brushless motor and three speed settings suit driving long deck screws and lag bolts as well as lighter assembly work. At 7.5 lb it is heavy for a compact driver, so overhead and one-handed work tires sooner. Questions and answers

Is the HERCULES 20V impact driver worth it?
It offers high torque and a brushless motor at a house-brand price. It makes the most sense if you already own HERCULES 20V batteries; otherwise factor in the cost of a battery and charger.
How does it compare with the big-name 20V impact drivers?
It matches or beats many premium 18V/20V drivers on rated torque at 184 ft-lb. The trade-offs are weight and a smaller service network than DeWalt, Milwaukee or Makita.
Does it come with a battery and charger?
Most listings are tool-only. Check the specific listing, since kits with a battery and charger are sold separately.
How heavy is it, and will it tire my arm?
It weighs 7.5 lb, which is on the heavy side for a compact driver. It is fine for bench and deck work but tiring for long overhead sessions.
What bits and sockets fit it?
It has a 1/4 in. hex drive, so standard 1/4 in. hex impact bits fit directly. For sockets you need 1/4 in. hex-to-square adapters.
When is the best time to buy it?
Harbor Freight runs frequent sales and coupon events on HERCULES tools. Watch the price history here and buy when it dips below its usual range.
Where can I buy the HERCULES 20V Brushless Cordless, 1/4 in. Compact, 3-Speed Impact Driver?
