Is the Hercules HCB82B2 worth it?

It is a good value if you already own Hercules 12V batteries, since you pay only for the tool. If you are starting fresh, budget for a battery and charger, which can cost as much as the wrench.

Does it come with a battery and charger?

No. It is a bare tool. You need a Hercules 12V 2 Ah battery pack and a compatible charger, sold separately.

Can it remove lug nuts?

It can break loose many passenger-car lug nuts rated around 80 to 100 ft-lbs, since 1,200 in-lbs equals 100 ft-lbs. Very tight or rusted nuts may need a 1/2-inch impact wrench.

It uses standard 3/8-inch drive impact sockets with a friction-ring anvil. Use impact-rated sockets, not chrome hand sockets.

How does it compare to a 1/2-inch impact wrench?

It is smaller and lighter but has less torque. A 1/2-inch cordless impact wrench delivers more breakaway torque for heavy suspension and truck work.

Bare Hercules tools tend to drop during store promotions and coupon events. Watch the price history here rather than buying at list price.

Our take on the Hercules HCB82B2 12v 3/8 Compact Impact Wrench

The Hercules HCB82B2 is a 12V cordless 3/8-inch impact wrench built for compact, high-speed fastening. It claims 1,200 in-lbs of bolt breakaway torque, 2,500 RPM and 3,200 IPM, and weighs 1.87 lb with an all-metal body and a bright LED. The friction-ring anvil takes standard 3/8-inch impact sockets. It ships as a bare tool: no battery and no charger are included, so you need the Hercules 12V system already.
