Our take on the HexClad Damascus Steel Knife & Carving Set, 8-pc

The HexClad 8-piece Damascus Steel Knife & Carving Set is a Japanese-forged knife block of five blades plus a honing rod, built from 67-layer Damascus steel at 60+ Rockwell hardness. Each blade is hand-sharpened to a 12-degree edge using the three-step Honbazuke method, and the steel bolster and full hybrid tang are meant to improve balance. The set is $519 at HexClad as of November 3, 2026, and it has held that price since tracking began on October 29, 2026, so there is no discount to wait for right now.

Questions and answers

Is the HexClad Damascus set worth $519?
If you want five matching Damascus blades with a 60+ Rockwell hardness and a honing rod, $519 is in line with premium Japanese-style sets. Casual cooks who sharpen rarely will get more value from a cheaper set.
How does it compare with HexClad's other knives?
This set uses 67-layer Damascus steel at 60+ Rockwell, above HexClad's standard stainless lines. The Damascus blades are harder and hold an edge longer, but they chip more easily if you cut on glass or bone.
Do the knives need special care?
Yes. Hand wash and dry them promptly, avoid the dishwasher, and use wood or plastic boards. The 12-degree edge is thin, so hone lightly with the included rod rather than steeling hard.
What is in the box?
An 8-inch chef's knife, 7-inch santoku, 5-inch utility knife, 3.5-inch paring knife, 8-inch serrated bread knife and a 9-inch honing rod. There are no steak knives despite the carving-set name.
Is $519 a good price right now?
It is the only new price listed, $519 at HexClad as of November 3, 2026, and it has not moved since October 29, 2026. There is no cheaper store to switch to, so waiting is unlikely to save money soon.
Who is this set for?
Home cooks who want one coherent set of hard Japanese-style blades and will care for them. It is overkill for someone who wants dishwasher-safe knives.
Where is the HexClad Damascus Steel Knife & Carving Set, 8-pc cheapest?
At HexClad, for $519.00, 39% off, as of our latest check.
Is the HexClad Damascus Steel Knife & Carving Set, 8-pc at its lowest price?
Yes: $519.00 is the lowest price we've seen for it since October 29.
What do buyers say about the HexClad Damascus Steel Knife & Carving Set, 8-pc?
Rated 5 out of 5 from 11 ratings. Buyers like: Knife set described as amazing; Customers say they love the knives and will buy more; Steak knife praised as the best ever purchased, cutting through steaks like butter.
