Is the Nulas knife set worth it?

For a first set or a rental kitchen, yes. The six knives plus guards cover most tasks at a low price. Cooks who sharpen often or cut daily should budget for a forged chef's knife instead.

Is it dishwasher safe?

Yes, the set is listed as dishwasher safe. Hand washing still preserves the blade coating and edge longer, since heat and detergent speed up coating wear.

Are the blades stainless steel?

Yes, stainless steel with a non-stick, rust-resistant colored coating. The coating is what keeps food from sticking, but it can chip if you cut on glass or stone.

Does it come with a block or sharpener?

No. The set includes the six knives and six blade guards only. Add a honing steel or pull-through sharpener separately.

Our take on the Nulas Knife Set 6-pc Colorful Kitchen Knife Set

The Nulas 6-Piece Colorful Kitchen Knife Set covers the core kitchen cuts: an 8-inch chef's knife, 8-inch slicing knife, 7-inch Santoku, 8-inch serrated bread knife, 5-inch utility knife and 3.5-inch paring knife. Each blade is stainless steel with a non-stick, rust-resistant colored coating, and every knife ships with a matching protective guard. The handles are shaped for a steady grip when wet, and the set is dishwasher safe. It is a budget-priced starter set rather than forged cutlery, so expect coating wear over time with heavy use.
